What an amazing website. This is great for lesson planning, projects, tutorials and more.

There are many great bookmarking and categorizing tools available for use, and many of them are highly effective...unless you use ALL of them and then forget which site you used to bookmark something. I AM INFAMOUS FOR DOING THIS. To combat my poor bookmarking ability, I decided to create this blog to serve as my virtual junk-drawer; a place for art, education, and "other" found treasures.

Summer School Day 1
Today was my first day at the hospital working with elementary, middle, and high school kids. I have to say I think the day couldn't have gone better. The kids were amazing. They followed instructions, were very productive, and began work on some very impressive designs. We started the day with a light catcher project using a Scratch-Light kit. The activity took about 30-45 min start to finish. When the students finished, they began their drawings for a name design project using large 20 x 30 sheets of drawing paper. Most students finished the drawing stage and began coloring in the shapes and spaces using oil pastels, crayons or markers. This project will take anywhere from 2-3 days.
I need lesson ideas in a bad way. I'm not used to teaching art that focuses only on the studio aspect. I felt off at various points during the day because I was leaving out art history and formal aspects of art. All in all though, I think I will enjoy summer school and gain some valuable experience for when I begin teaching in the fall.
